I spent ten years of my career working in the trade exhibition industry for a number of the top companies in that sector. I was responsible for the marketing of a wide range of shows in numerous industries, such as menswear and womenswear, publishing, environmental engineering, food production, travel and leisure, catering. During this time I gained wide-ranging B2B experience as a Divisional Marketing Director and an Exhibition Director responsible for sales and operations as well as marketing.

European Consumer Marketing Experience

After my time in exhibitions, I moved into my first role in a consumer-facing business when I became Group Marketing Manager for High & Mighty, menswear retailers for big and tall men with shops in the UK, Germany, Holland and Belgium. I was responsible for all marketing activity across the 4 countries, which involved the following:

  • Marketing strategy for UK and Europe to include budget management of over £1 million, reporting and analysis
  • Production of a brochure twice a year in 4 languages involving selection of models and garments for on-location and in-studio photoshoots
  • Direct marketing to customer database
  • Customer service
  • National and local advertising in 4 languages
  • National and local PR
  • Sponsorship deals (with celebrities like Olympic athlete, Linford Christie)

Small Business Owner

I left the corporate world in order to work with my husband in his landscaping business and so that I could spend less time travelling. This enabled me to gain experience in running and marketing a small consumer business. This also means that I can give you advice beyond the remit of just marketing, from finance to human resources.

Freelance Marketing Consultant

In 2012 I decided that the time was right to set up my own business as a freelance marketing consultant and share my skills and knowledge of both working in the corporate world and as a business owner. I work with companies who do not have an in-house marketing director but still want to have a marketing professional who can develop a Marketing Plan for their business and help them put their plan into practice. From 2014 - 2017 I was an Marketing Approved Provider for Buckinghamshire County Council.

I may have worked in marketing for over 25 years and I have kept up-to-date with all the latest marketing communication channels and techniques. I continually keep myself up-to-date by:

A Linguist

I love language and all the nuances it brings. Writing is one of my fortes and I also speak French, German and Italian.
