Consumers are becoming increasingly aware about the importance of their nutrition and lifestyle. Young people in particular want to know more about the brands they buy from and are prepared to pay more for ethical products.
This offers great opportunities for organic and fair trade brands. You automatically tick a lot of the boxes for the conscious consumer. But as this is a growing market, competition will increase plus you are also competing against mainstream brands.
If you want to compete successfully with other brands, it is vital that you have a well-thought through marketing plan, which combines strategy and action (my motto). This is particularly important when you have been running your business for a few years and you are ready to take that step to the next level. Perhaps you are moving into larger manufacturing premises or taking on sales staff or supplying supermarkets and large online retailers as well as independents – all this means you must generate more sales to cover your additional costs. Undertaking effective marketing will find those new stockists as well as customers who become loyal to your brand.
I have been a supporter and promoter of an organic lifestyle for over 15 years and I understand the science and environmental impact. Read more about my ethical journey here.
On top of that, I have been running a small business with my husband since 1993 so I face the same challenges as you every day: staff, finding new customers, cashflow, competition, is our website working, how should we be using social media, etc. This means that I can bring more than just marketing expertise to your business and I are highly aware of the need for return on investment.
