I can offer you director-level experience and expertise when you need it, short-term marketing project management as well as act as your marketing department for longer periods of time. Since I started out in marketing, the channels/tools available to us have increased dramatically but the principles of marketing strategy have remained the same – something which is often forgotten. Huge choice can lead to confusion – something I have seen in many marketing plans. When you work with me, I can offer:
I have experience in both strategy and implementation. The only way to success is a plan which is combined with action. When you work with me as your Freelance Marketing Manager, I can help you devise customer-focused strategies and I will make sure that those recommendations can be executed to your budget and time constraints.
I spent ten years of my career working in the trade exhibition industry for a number of the top companies in that sector. I was responsible for the marketing of a wide range of shows in numerous industries, such as menswear and womenswear, publishing, environmental engineering, food production, travel and leisure, catering. During this time I gained wide-ranging B2B experience as a Divisional Marketing Director and an Exhibition Director responsible for sales and operations as well as marketing.
In 2013, I worked as Project Director with World Travel Market, owned by Reed Exhibitions, my previous employer, on the launch of the inaugural Amadeus & WTM Travel Experience Awards.
After my time in exhibitions, I moved into my first role in a consumer-facing business when I became Group Marketing Manager for High & Mighty, menswear retailers for big and tall men with shops in the UK, Germany, Holland and Belgium. I was responsible for all marketing activity across the 4 countries, which involved the following:
I left the corporate world in order to work with my husband in his landscaping business, Personal Plant Shopper and so that I could spend less time travelling. This enabled me to gain experience in running and marketing a small consumer business and I am still involved today. This also means that I can give you advice beyond the remit of just marketing, from finance to human resources.
In 2012 I decided that the time was right to set up my own business as a freelance marketing consultant and share my skills and knowledge of both working in the corporate world and as a business owner. I work with companies who do not have an in-house marketing function but still want to have a marketing professional who can develop a Marketing Plan for their business and help them put their plan into practice. I am also an approved provider for Buckinghamshire County Council's New Futures.
I may have worked in marketing for over 25 years but I have kept up-to-date with all the latest marketing communication channels and techniques. I continually keep myself up-to-date by:
I love language and all the nuances it brings. Writing is one of my fortes and I also speak French, German and Italian.
I now live between the UK and Italy, where I live with my husband in an amazing eco-villa run by renewable energy in the beautiful area of Le Marche. We are very excited to have the Alistair Sawday's Special Places to Stay Accreditation.
